The latest Far Cry title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in violence and mayhem with similar excitement, all while presenting gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' format by having a new location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our shared irreverent, visionary sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
