Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
