'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Information After Alpine Fire

The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting any details about their family members via social media.

The fire devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Circulated video reveal the roof structure igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and wounded another 119. Authorities noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to name the final individuals.

In the waiting period, relatives have been taking to the internet to plead for information about their missing relatives who were at the bar that fateful night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his mother.

The resident of a town near the city, informed a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she said.

She continued that some of his peers had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian foreign ministry has said that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, according to.

The national sporting body has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and true sportsmanship."

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and ended up at the bar.

"A close friend informed me they fled after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his educators said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, combined with great maturity. Often ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the case.
