The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. The surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's triumph, the gifted cast also received individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Studio of the Year. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards during the show.
Other standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Outstanding Independent Game and Premier PC Title. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the public, with only four special—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by experts.
