Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of a medical condition she has been battling over the past 10 days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
These plans will include trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together again next season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
Her movement was noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her at times this year.
Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
She secured 28 victories during 2025 and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
